Ok - so I've got a work's annual shindig in Edinburgh tomorrow night.

I have plans on Saturday morning, so don't want to stay over in Edinburgh or indulge in the usual drinking activities.

I will be taking the zed to the shindig. It's about a 10/15 walk from Waverley Station.

Where can I park, and what routes should I consider driving on the way home (I stay about 20mins north of Dundee) ;)

We usually use the underground carpark opposite John Lewis, it's the easiest place for us as we come in on the A701 and it's a straight drive there. Not sure if has some opening time restrictions or if it's 24 hr access. From there it's about a 10 min walk to Waverley Station.
 
There is also an Autosafe 24 hour car park to the rear of the Sheraton Hotel which is at the West End, it's just off the Western Approach Road and I have used this if I ever dine at the hotel in an evening. Not sure of the rates for overnight though Adamski, but slightly tucked away if you get my drift. I have a few issues with the NCP car park at the St James Centre. Over the last year there have been a few instances of vehicle break-ins that have been left overnight, got this from another police colleague whose area that is. I also get circulated the monthly crime stats our Force area produces and makes for interesting reading. Don’t want to put you off as it is not happening on a regular better to be informed, and if you do use it then park as close to the entrance as you can, rather than becoming isolated by parking further in because that’s where the thieves target usually.
 
Found the car park Swiftly. Good call. CCTV, well out of the way.
