My power steering seems to have died. Apparently two faults were found on the ECU by a London garage but they couldn't repair it. Can anybody advise me regarding options Thanks

The only option is a new steering column and not cheap....or a BMW used part specialist, maybe your cars covered by a warranty?

Z4 with ECU component gone.

Hi can anyone advise how best to sell my car. The ECU is not working and will cost me money that I don't have. So I have to say goodbye to the car, everthing else was working just fine

ouch - your going to find it hard to shift that

Search ebay as there are normally steering colums/racks on there for £200

Good to know: Anyone buying a steering column from a breaker should ensure a locking pin is installed, otherwise it's nearly impossible to properly install the column, plus internal damage can easily occur with no locking pin. It should have been placed before removal, I imagine you'd have to trust it was not placed afterwards.

What's the age/spec of the car? A dealer replacement of the steering column is £1650 parts, plus labour and VAT. You're looking at about £2100. That pales into insignificance against writing off the car and selling it as a faulty vehicle.

It has to be worth exploring the second hand market and trying an indie etc.

Good luck with it! It's always a shame when the first posts are expensive faults
