eBay reversing sensors

Spent more on it now...

£17 on front and rear parking sensors off of eGhey




Looks ok until you look at the wiring diagram.

"Spread a feeling machine" I get as the sensors, but what the f**k do you wire the rest into?
Anyone any ideas? 
Red, permeant live?
Brack, earth?
Yellow, rev light?
Blue?????

They are a uk seller and I have contacted them.

So I've got to take the bumpers off, but that looks a fairly easy job TBH.

Yellow will be reverse, connect it to the reverse light.

Red will be ignition on live

Blue will be to activate the fronts somehow I assume, you'll have to install it to work that out.

Edit: connect the blue to the brake lights. This will activate the front sensors.

I know it's been a while but I spannered myself on my push bike and broke my wrist and two ribs.

But in the mean time I worked the wiring out and fitted them.


Yellow to reverse and Blue to brake light live, as the unit has switch in that when you brake it activates the front sensors for 10 seconds.


Both ends off, a fairly simple job really.


The rear bumper had these boxes marked, so I just added some crosses to find the centre and used the hole saw provided.


All fitted in the rear.


The front didn't have any boxes so I had to do some measuring and guestermating.


Had to run the wires from the front to back so just routed the round the front wheel arch and along the lip of the sill under the car and into the battery box from below.




Then had to fit the display, so had to run the wire from the boot to through to the cabin.
In the top right of the boot is hole...


Take out the little speaker grill behind the drivers seat and grab the wire, and pull it though to the boot.


Connect it all up and....... IT WORKS!!!


And looks factory.


And whilst I had the bumper off had to polish the hole of the tips.

So the parking sensor work lovely. The only problem is the front ones come EVERY TIME YOU BRAKE and when in traffic it was horrible and after about 5 mins of driving I pulled over and disconnected all of the front ones from the main box.

I bought a switch from eBay for £4 and finally got round to fitting it today. Cue running a wire from inside the boot into the cabin, though the centre console to just in front of gear stick and the chopping the fag lighter wires for live and earth. 

Luckily the 'M' version comes with a switch to turn then airbag off in the centre console, so after some fingering around I found the cut out and drilled it from above and finished it off with file. Wired everything up and hey fucking presto it works!!



So to use the front sensors I just flick the switch, then turn it off when I'm done and the rears still work when in reverse.


Of course I had to go out and test it with the down and the heater on full and its fucking lovely driving a convertible on bright sunny day when its cold, the heater is great and kept me nice and toasty warm!

So for £21 for full set of parking sensors I think it's bargain.
