Ebay, Possible account suspension, is it a scam?

Just recieved an E-mail from Ebay that my account may be suspended due to someone overseas accessing it, there is more than a very good chance it was me anyway.

They have asked me to log in and verify my account, however when I do following their link I'm directed to page that asks me to enter credit card details, now never having directly entered any payment methods into Ebay (all payments via Paypal, which I understand is something to do with Ebay) made me more than a little bit suspicious.

I just wondered if anyone knew of any Ebay scams along these lines, any help or advice greatly appreciated.

If the email is genuine it will have your REAL name at the start. Anything else is a scam and you should report to ebay and delete immediately.

RichardG, have a look at what it wants you to do the login to your account normally without clicking any links on the email and look in your account section for what it's asking you to do. Not necessarily a scam.

As above, never log into anything using a link from an email, go on the website directly. Scammers Build a false page that looks original, email you a link then you put all your details in.

Did you follow the link and log in?

If you have already logged into the page they linked to, clear all your cookies, close your browser then log into eBay directly and change your password - if you have entered it on the scam site they have access to your account.

Ebay never ask for credit card details, eBay itself has no way to send or receive money from a user perspective. It is made very clear when you are going to Paypal, they are different usernames and passwords.

+1 ...the mail sounded dodgy immediately, but when I got to the bit about 'credit card details' I just chuckled. :)
