Easy way to get wheels off?

Hello,

Once again i've come for your advice - just tried to take wheels off and ended up looking pretty stupid as i grappled with my 108's and they stayed resolute.

I presume that the inner face has bonded with the axle (not sure how as was only in the garage a couple of weeks back) but nothing i tried (Pulling like a maniac; tapping with rubber mallet; driving round (private) car park with loosened bolts (bad practice i know) freed them.

Any easy answers?

It's a Z4C 3.0 2007 with 18" 108's.

Thanks,

Liam

Same car, same year, same wheels same problem with my fronts. I freed mine by tapping the inside rim with a rubber mallet whilst the car was firmly up on axle stands.

Not normally corrosion at all, but the interference fit between the wheel and the locating ring on the hub.

I use the same method as Half Colin. Leave the wheel bolts partly fitted so you can loosen it without the wheel flying off

If they still refuse to budge, loosen the studs a half turn, drop the car back down and drive slowly forward until you feel it pop.

Only kick from the inside though. I use a large piece of wood and a sledge hammer and keep hitting at a different location.

Then I fitted the Wheel mates so no longer have the problem.

Cheers, neat idea, do they work? PS I love the claim about them stopping you getting sweaty dirty pants (British joke)

Yes, they work fine as the two metals no longer make contact, so no longer fuse.

Bit like the old steel wheels, they never seized either as those metals did not react either.
