Early morning play with dashcam

It's a mini 0806 - trying to work out the best settings, not just for the resolution but also for exposure compensation to allow for the circular polarising filter that I've fitted

Terrible music  , should be hearing that sweet 6 cyl  , you may need to look at the mounting Perry as in the beginning you could see the bonnet and wings but they slowly disappeared as the video went on, great roads btw

That was me playing with the video editor - farting about trying crops and pans within the video, that's why the bonnet reappears and then slides off again. You have to play around to work out how the thing operates

And I know the music's crap... it was supposed to be....

Quite a good first result - where have you got the cam fixed?

My biggest issue is contrast. I found I needed to include less of the sky so that the road wasn't, at times, under-exposed and so I now include more bonnet and wings and less sky (it's not a sophisticated dash cam)

The choice of music made me smile

:driving:

It's behind the mirror so invisible from the driver's PoV.

I think you're correct about including less sky, which is why I was trying to work out how to crop the video so that I can tilt the camera down a little and then reduce the amount of bonnet when editing - lot of trial & error to get it setup but, once done, should produce more consistent results

Have you got it behind the mirror on the drivers or PAX side, Perry?

Given you have the 0806 that rotates more.

Any pics of it mounted?

Matt

Very good Perry.
Enjoyed that, but the shady section was a little hard to follow if I was being critical.
Nice road though !

It's on the Px side - there wouldn't be room on the driver's side - no pictures of it mounted but it's pretty inconspicuous

Yep, this is why I'm playing with the settings, without the polarising filter that section would have been fine but the filter cuts the light a bit - but the plus side of the filter is that it cuts the majority of the windscreen reflections

This is why I'm trying to work out the exposure compensation needed to boost the brightness - looks to be about +0.7 but I'll have to wait until my next window of opportunity to check that with it mounted in the car.
