E89 Will These Alloys fit?

Hey all,

My 326M alloys have cracked so I am looking at an aftermarket replacement.

I have been informed the stock measurements are as follows:

326M 19"
Front: 8x19 et 29, Tyres: 225/35R19
Rear: 9x19 et 40, Tyres: 255/30R19

Now I have seen a set of alloys that I am really keen on but I am worried about size differences. These are as follows

Front: 8.5 x 19 et 35
Rear: 10 x 19 et 40

Would the tyres have to be wider or would these slip in to factory specification tyres just?
Additionally would there be issues with rubbing.

Hopefully someone here has run a similar setup!

Hello,

on the rear the proposed rims will fit, pending on the tyre size you choose it could be necessary to adjust the inside plastic fender to acoid rubbing (i drive the same size on my ride).

On front the rim will be 12mm wider to the inside, therefore my suggestion would be to use 10mm spacers as it also looks better together with the rear configuration.

As I'm not a friend of too small tyres on too wide rims I would use 235/35-19 // 265/30-19 but if your current set of tyres is still fine to use it should fit as well.

To be hinest I'm not sure if I understand your post completly (has to do with my english skills) but I think you have doubts that the 255 fit on the 10".

We have in Germany attached overview. It shows rim size, min, ideal and max tyre size.

I appreciate 255 is deemed the smallest recommended width for a 10j with 265 or 275 the optimum or best size but its the 30 profile with 255 that i have issue with the style 326 / 296 are 9j running 255 30 & its clear for anyone to see there is virtually no protection for the alloy or indeed any comfort for the driver .
Possibly 255 35 would be ok but even then it would not be ideal unless the car was slammed & you were pushed for space .

I fully agree to you, that's why I also ride 235 and 265 on my 9" and 10" rims. To keep some comfort you should avoid the use of RFT runflat anyhow. I just want to show that there is a possibility even if not prefered.
To change into 255/35 is not so easy for us (german legislation) as the rolling circumference (hope you understand what I mean) change for more than 2% and in that case you need also to change the front into a 225/40 and the tacho need to be adjusted.

Just want to add a picture where you can see that even with the 235//265 Michelin PS4S combination on 9"&10" rims is nearly no protection for the rims. So carefully parking necessary . Luckily the Zed is just a boys toy and not my daily driver.

Would you say It would be okay to run the above proposed sizes on the following for a short while?
Tyres: 225/35R19
Tyres: 255/30R19

I can see in the table posted it qualifies as the minimum, aside from stretching the tyre are their any negatives on running these on the aforementioned tyre sizes for a short while? (Will be upgrading to MPSS at somepoint)

On the front the spacer in the first step should make sure that you have enough space between the rim and the spring/shock absorber as the are coming 12mm closer to it see details below.

If you will have rubbing issues on the rear does not only depend on the size of tyre you choose but also on the brand. The experience I have is i.e. that a Hankook is a small tyre but a Goodyear F1 a much wider tyre even if officialy the same size. So to my opinion there is no clear yes or no.

Hi Guys,

I have a further question regarding the offset of the front alloys,

Stock Setup Specs: Front: 8x19 et 29, Tyres: 225/35R19
New Setup Specs: Front: 8.5 x 19 et 35, Tyres: 235/35R19

Could I take the offset of the front alloys down to et 23, would a 12mm spacer be to much and protrude the edges of the car? I would like the car to line up with the rear, I have read that 10mm spacers are not very good for these cars from the following:

So my concern is that the 12mm spacers will go to far out and not be flush with the car, is their anyway I can confirm this? Ideally I just want them to be inline with the rears, which should be flush with the arch aswell,

You can have a lock if a 12mm fit on the standard set of 8" ET29. If yes, it will fit on the 8.5" ET35 as well. The minus 6mm of the offset will be eliminated by the 0.5" wider alloy. So from that point of view no change on the outside.

Hi mate,

The car is currently in with my mechanic being worked on, How ever I have concerns about the fronts catching the front fender with the 12mm spacers installed.

My setup is as follows

235/35//19 Michelin PS4S Tyres
Front: 8.5 x 19 et 35 (12mm Spacer)
Eibach Lowering springs (10mm drop up front)
8.5J alloys etc....

I can see you have the same tyres up front, do you also have the springs, and are you aware if it will catch?

For the rears I went for 265/35/19 PS4S Tyres again, this has fit with no issues, is this the same on your side?

my set up is front 9x19" ET 29 235/35-19 PS4S which is equal to your setting on the outside,
In the beginning I had Eibach springs as well to lower down but changed now to KW V3 so it is even deeper than yours
