E89 Vanos recall

They are replacing bolts that had a tendency to back out. I would definitely agree to the recall, but mine was already done in 2013. Look at it this way, they are going to replace your valve cover gasket and possibly valve cover at their cost. It's a win.

i did get the ABS module replaced with a reconditioned one. The only other issue i have is annoying but intermittent where the screen does not come up and i have no sound at all including parking sensors. This is when i get the SOS error.

fingers crossed nothing else at the moment. MOT passed yesterday. Still has the slight oil leek listed but that's been on there for years.

Not sure which oil leak you talking about but i if its the rocker cover think this was done less then 2 years ago and should be covered on BMW garages from dealers. Think oil filter housing to engine block done more than 2 years ago. Pretty certain I sent you health check video from Sytners when they had taken all undercover off to establish that only oil leak was from rocker cover from memory). I was concerne about it bein DCT gearbox but only based on other posters having experienced leaks sometimes more than once.
Never had any problems with screen etc or sound system, any fault codes when it happens?
Aplogies to original poster for high jacking thread

Dropped my E88 125i of at Sytners at 9 for Vanos recall will report back once its done and I've had a chance to drive the car

Car was ready for 11 this morning. Hard to believe its actually running smoother than when I took it in. Not sure if they replaced the oil (done less than 1k miles ago)but like a sewing machine. Replaced couple of gaskets including rocker cover gasket .
After my previous experiences with my Z'd when I had about 3 occasions when car had to go back in for remedial work after repairs was very impressed by service from Sytners. Nick in coolant pipe O ring last time(for Z4) only done 10 miles but coolant level still on max, so 10/10 .

I’ve left my car with vines bmw Guildford for the vanos recall . I was fortunate enough on Saturday to have a code reader used on the car by the AA at an event I was working at.
Straight way they said Vanos. I told Vines this and I made clear that I didn’t want any additional “ necessary “ work done to it.
If anything else is needed I will return to my Indi who is aware of the recall.
I’ll post up the outcome.

Just collected my E89 from Vanos repair.
Despite me confirming I didn’t want a code read they attempted to charge me £150.00.
When I reminded them I didn’t request it the charges were deleted.
BE WARE.

Our 2010 23i being done today. Got a courtesy laptop-on-wheels from BMW whilst the magic happens. It’s great to know that a 15 year old car is still seen as impotent to them.

Good spot. Maybe I did mean ‘impotent’ 🤷🏻🤣

All done. No drama. Required the car for two days mind. Got some great complements from BMW Cambridge on the ol’ girl and their health check could only find one thing to ‘recommend’ so I doff my cap to their fastidiousness

And no sign of impotence if I’m honest
