Has anyone straight pipped their e89 20i or 28i?
I am looking to buy one as a "weekend car" , project car. The E89 model looks amazing, exactly how i want it. After doing lot of research the only thing that buggs me with the car is the sound so i was wondering does it sound any better straight pipped and will it be louder?(louder is good in my situation :D )
The 23i and the 30i are not an option since insurance, road tax and import cost will be crazy high here in Cyprus where i live.

You may as well take the exhaust off completely, it’s going to sound terrible with no tone at all

well damn i wonder why though... my brother 1.6 miata sounds like a dream with just 2 of the 3 muffler deleted with a custom made exhaust.
Also i could not find anyone who's done it before if there is someone who's straight pipped a 20i or a 28i please give me a link where i can go.
Thanks in advance

I did that on a proper Cooper S (999cc) many years ago. Straight pipe front to back - It had a full race set up and red lined at 9k - It was very LOUD
One blast on the road and decided to put the silencer back on before I was caught!

I only tried it once, on a Rover 3500S!

The back box got holes in it, so I bought a new one. But I had to take it round the block after removing the old one and before I fitted the new one - as you would when you're only 20! As great as it sounded, even at that age I really couldn't have lived with it like that every day.

I realised bits like that are there for a reason!
