E89 Sound Mods

Hi all,

Just looking for any ideas on sound modifications for the E89 N52 (sDrive23i or 30i) to make it sound a little more like the wonderful E85 N52 and M54 sounded with the sound generator modification done.

Already had a useful suggestion regards a Remus exhaust.. so just looking if anybody has had any success in making their pride and joy howl...!! πŸ‘
Cheers

One off beat strategy….

The N20 powered versions have a synthetic electronic injection of sound ASD..not impossible to set that up for a N52..

I don’t think the E89 bulkhead lends itself to such a mechanical / acoustic mod..FWIW

Yeah.. I did do some research on engines and I think I've pretty much decided not to go with the direct fuel injection because they can have problems coking up and they just don't seem to sound as nice as a straight six...
I know that with the turbos and everything they are very economical and powerful, I acknowledge that but I'm just looking for something that sounds a bit more raucous!!

I think you missed my point..I think…

You could put an ASD device in your audio circuit and get broom broom sounds injected into your audio system.as used subsequent on all BMWs

Sorry yes, I did misunderstand you first time around...
Yeah I've heard of systems like that that put something through the sound system but even though I'm sure it works very well, there's something that just seems inherently 'false' or or 'fabricated' about doing it that way.. do you know what I mean?
I'm cool with running a pipe from the engine into the cabin (so long as it's not to commit suicide!!!) because at least that way you know that it's authentic engine noise.

Maybe buy a TVR or Aston, then! :poke: :D

In the old days we used to get a power drill and 10mm HSS bit to the rear silencers! Probably would pull a 'fault code' these days.

Oh I know.. things we did back in the day..lol.. I remember filling the front forks of my first motorbike FULL of fork oil until they were solid, because I wanted to lift the front end to make it look like a Harley Davidson from a movie..
One Sunday morning I learnt a lot about what having no suspension at the front does for handling..!! 🀣

I bought my 30i in 2015 and almost immediately fitted the Remus catback system. I came from a long past of British sports cars that sounded different from the run of the mill cars of the day.
One in particular, my 1970 TR6 2.5pi, was a straight six with a great sound. Now you may say I tried to recapture my youth with the the straight 6 e89 30i but it was more a about what I considered to be a sports car not sounding like one. The stock exhaust and note was dull and uninspiring.
The Remus has been fantastic. It's not too loud but has such a great note especially when shifting down in manual mode. There is nothing about it to dislike.
So nearly 10 years fitted it's been trouble free and enhances the cars pleasure for me immensely.
