As a new member I see there has been a lot of discussion about runflats, with many people recommending ditching them for non-runflat tyres.
I used to own a E85 3.0 Z4 Roadster which was fitted with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A runflats, and the ride was awful (hard, noisy, tramlining). I can appreciate why a change to non-runflat tyres would have improved the car.
However, I now have an E89 3.5i Z4 and have just replaced the Bridgestone Potenza runflats with Michelin runflats. Although the E89 inherently offers a more supple ride than the E85, I still felt the Bridgestone RE050As were noisy, and had a tendency to tramline. They were not great in the wet either.
After some online research, Michelin runflats appeared better (quieter, better wet grip) so I had these fitted by Event Tyres (also chosen after much research - I didn't want my alloys damaged!). The result is great - the car is much quieter, grip in the wet is better, and it doesn't tramline. Sadly the Michelin tyres are more expensive than the Bridgestones, but I guess you get what you pay for.
I had the following fitted - Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Zero Pressure:
FRONT: 225 40 R18 88W
REAR: 255 35 R18 90W
I can also recommend Event Tyres (they come to you). I have used them twice now and they are obsessive about not damaging your alloys (unlike some high street chains!).
