E89 radio removal

There is a panel below the radio that you need to remove. It's held in place by 4 studs that just prise out, use a plastic panel extraction tool for this as you don't want to damage the surrounding panel.

Behind this you'll find 2 screws below the radio fascia, remove these and your radio can now be, gentle, pulled forwards.
If you hear a "clicking" type noise as you pull it forward then you are pulling the serrated optic cable against a strip that hangs down behind the radio, just put your hand in and free it off.

Hopefully that should sort you out.

Not sure what car the OP has but there is 2 versions of radio/cd. Yours must be the same us ours with no idrive/nav as ours has the panel under the radio/cd as well.
I think models with idrive/nav doesn't have the panel under the radio/cd and instead has trim that goes around the radio/cd.
