E89 hazard indicators flashing randomly

Hey guys so I have a 2009 Z4 35i and I’ve been noticing while driving my hazard indicators will flash twice at times on their own. The hazards themselves don’t flash, just the indicators. And today after starting my car the indicators have gone haywire. Flashing on and off, interrupting turn signals and actual hazard light operations. Any ideas on what it could be? I’m thinking a short or a blown fuse but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced these problems on these cars before.

I'd be looking at a short (cut/trapped wire), has any work been done to the car? Panels removed etc?

For info, the controlling module for these is the FRM (Footwell) module. It's located above the drivers legs, behind the kick panel.

Sometimes they can be caused by bus issues caused by other faults..have you used a decent code reader to see what it says?

Check for water tail lights.
