Hi guys I have noticed a liquid noise/hydraulic fluid noise when unlocking the car and getting out, its on both sides just around the top of the door, is this normal or do I need a visit to the dreaded dealer?

Cheers

Chris

Yeah will record it in the morning, too cold and dark to be messing around on the drive, it almost sounds like a fuel pump priming, but i am sure its coming from the roof!

Hi mate, just been back out, but didnt record the noise, there is a noise of water been squeezed in the seals and a very quite hiss noise that seems to come up from where the roof mech can been seen (if that makes sense) almost as if the system is been primed

A number of sounds come from the car when unlocking or locking, can't say what they are as i haven't really tried to place them. Could one he the fuel pump?
Is there any sign of fluid around the parcel shelf or roof mechanism?

I am temped just to ignore it, as no doubt if its not "normal" the dealers will do more damage than they fix

But I am worried that it will decide to dump all the fluid inside the car however

Ive got this as well, only does it when ive driven it and getting out of the car. checking tonight its wet but no noise. Could be the seal expanding after the window drops.

mine is more like air not water though, like the cabin is airtight which i know its not.

different note, love the little window, seem to havee it dropped a lot to get fresh air better than the main window. also the visibility is a massive improvement.

like it as well that i can drop the window quick when getting in the car, close the door and it auto closes.

My passenger window makes this hissing noise, and if the window is wet you can sometimes hear/see water bubbling a bit! I'm pretty sure it's just the seals on the roof where they meet the glass.

Cheers Mate, I checked mine before and it does sound like air,my neighbours think I am nuts stood outside with my ear to the roof of my car! :D

I have also been trying to cure a small rattle in the back/boot, this has been resolved by either...gumi pfledge the seals.. or by a big bag of cat litter in the boot which stops the boot carpet moving up and down ...just need to work out which now!

I have the same thing, one of the few things I haven't raised with the dealer, but I'm not too concerned. I don't think it's actually a problem, just intriguing.

At least I am not alone, we all can't have a problem...can we?? :D

You guys sure its not the fuel pump? I mean are you aware that the fuel pump is primed prior to take off?

When the Zed has been parked up overnight, wait until it's quiet (i.e. no noise, cars going by etc) and stand near the rear offside of zed, crouch down and press unlock button on key-fob...

you will hear the fuel being primed

is it this?

I thought I was bad but I've not yet worried about a noise I need to press my ear against to notice! Too many other noises to cover a slight noise up! One of the worst built cars I've owned. Still love it tho. How odd is that.

nahh not pump. my old one had a noise from the dash like a fan running.

its def water in the seal around the roof joint/ door window joint. it did rain last night and even though last night nothing but this morning it sounded like blowing air from your wet lips so yes its possible water getting in between the seal and the glass. as long as it does not travel down do the foot well like my first 03 z4 not bothered

Mine does this too..... hissing noise when you close the door.

Are you sure its not just the noise of the glass going back up when you close the door? Of all the things I've had, there's no noise other than the clunk of the door and noise of the glass going back up.

I only noticed this for the first time yesterday, and again today. I think it's just air escaping from the seal when the window raises up. As mentioned above it's like a hissing noise.
