E89 encounter with my gazebo...

Hey all, looking at the damage, what do you think ?

This was the aftermath of a gazebo hitting my z4 last week (with the winds) scratches you can feel with your finger, long one on the bonnet, plus a few vertical ones on the door and wing. I have heard the smart repairs isn’t suitable for this and body shop respray maybe necessary, might be insurance job if it comes to 4 figures then

Will have phone around, much prefer if they can do a smart repair as opposed to £££ respray

Not even sure if car insurance covers your own gazebo attacking your car anyway !

Hopefully you'll be able to get a smart repair done for that.

Car insurance would cover it - but you probably want to try to avoid that if possible!

You'll have your excess to pay along with the fact they will give you a good old rogering at renewal for the next few years!

There's only one way to fix that - paint - but give it a good polish and you might be able to decide which bits need painting, and which bits you won't notice.

You can see all the scratches on the bumper.

Second hand wing in the right colour and a polish of the bumper and while it's still damaged, it's not obvious enough to be worth repairing.

My only word of warning with that approach would be after a similar experience a few years ago.
I tried polishing it out.
The repair guy wasn't impressed as it doubled his work trying to cut back all the polish before he could start. I'd used Autoglym SRP and apparently the silicon in it causes all sorts of problems for paint adherence.
So maybe get someone to look before you cover it all with polish?

Have you got a local motor-body shop you can take it to?
The one near me will happily quote on inspection so you might be able to get a handle on cost...
