E89 Carbon fibre center console chipping

I'm looking for ideas to tidy the edges of my center console trim.
For some reason it's chipping all over the place and it's not me.l doing it.

See the attached picture and along the edges it's flaking or chipping.

Any ideas how to touch it up ? In the sun it's quite prominent and bloody annoying.
I asked for a price to replace and got £400. No thanks !

Pop it off (comes out quite easy), lightly sand, then spray with matt laquer.

Better than new.

Cost about a tenner, takes an afternoon.

I take the idea how ever, I seems to me that the carbon print design is chipping off not any kind of lacquer.

If i cleat lacquer it, it will look the same.

I think the carbon effect is etched into the alloy but I'm sure the lacquer has a tint to it and isn't just normal clear lacquer.

Ah I see - mine isn't the CF pattern so cannot just go check

Something you can do to be certain, is wipe it with a damp cloth. If the 'chips' dissappear (unitil it dries) then laquer will be perfect - otherwise you need something else... maybe a wrap or a new centre console?
