Hi guys

I'm really struggling to find an induction kit or intake for my 2010 30i. Does no such kit exist? Obviously looking for more intake\engine noise so a panel filter is no use.

I would be interested same question. Just bit more noise.

There is somekind of resonator box in plastic intake tube, but due to its shape only way would be new tube. Does anybody know replacement, maybe silicon tube. Is 330i tube same than z4.

I wonder if anyone’s fitted the sound generator from the 3.0si as it’s the same n52 engine?
That would give you the extra noise you’re after :?

Actually this post gave me kick to buy 330i silicone intake hose and remus muffler. So I will return if that hose fits or does it change anything. Sure that remus will....

Let me know how the intake hose goes!

Do you have a link to the part? Something like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mishimoto-BMW-E90-E92-w-N52-Engine-Silicone-Intake-Boot-2004-2012-Black/191920703392?epid=1371714353&hash=item2caf5d87a0:g:TuUAAOSwGXtXhRFs

On my 23i i removed the concertina pipe from 12 to the air box and gives some more noise.

Didn't do for that reason just that once i flooded the air filter crossing some water, so now i just leave it disconnected.

Just tried removing the flexi pipe, does make a small difference.
Yes i can hear not a unpleasant sound.
Roof up generally i think the engine sound overall is a bit rough, even before this mod, but much nicer once the roof is down.

And hose arrived, and didnt fit :headbang: too shallow angle and even other side diameter seems to be too large

That's a shame, credit for trying though.

I wonder if one of these would help with our objective... It would at least allow to add a cone filter, which you can't do with he current airbox\MAF.

Not sure if i can cross link to other forums - but this looked interesting:

And after few trials and errors I managed to have intake tube without resonator for z4. Other forum someone had done it with 3" tubing, but I found that way too small. Cant figure out how 3" silicone would stretch to fit. And oem tube is larger than 3"

I used 83mm curve with 150mm legs. Needed bit cutting from one leg of course.

Result... Not worst than stock. Thats always first goal at any modding. Maybe bit more intake noise, but just maybe, definitely just slightly. I could say power might be bit more lively on mid to high range. Cant say more power, but maybe bit smoother. Maybe sport mode is more usable because power doesnt feel so jerky at low rpm. I found before not using sport mode at city, but now its just great.

Easy mod and worth of money when you know right hose. I spend whole lot more on different tubes angles etc etc... but hey this is hobby and tinkering is part of fun.

Finally remus exhaust and tune installed. Both done at same time to my 30i.

Remus is just great. First 100km it had bit drone, but like any exhaust it needed running in and drone is almost gone. Sound is just about right. Sound is still quite quiet at low speeds and turns raspier and raw on high rpm. Just bit of drone pushing from 1500rpm.

Tune. First you need to understand that overall gain on naturally aspirated engine cant be anything like tune on turbo engine. Tune on turbo engine usually gains more torque from very low rpm when na engine can gain mostly on high rpm. Tune was still worth but just need to understand what you can get. Low rpm feels just same, but maybe bit smoother. 4k to 6k rpm heels about same but past 6k to 7k there is gain when before tune it felt bit flat. I guess tune uses safety margins on ignition and cam timing. In western europe we have just premium gasoline so maybe there is safety margins for lower quality gas. Maybe I am wrong also :)

All in all exhaust and tune made car heel better. I have straight road near me where is traffic sing after intersection (on closed road... :P ) which has been my acceleration marker many cars and bikes during 20 years time. Before tune and exhaust z4 got 179kmh and after 188kmh, so gain have to be something. To compare few that I remember, fiat punto 75hp 125kmh, bmw 520d 155kmh, jag xj 3.0d 170kmh and more than ecu tuned 331hp subaru forester 180kmh. Quite surprised it was faster than that forester. Maybe z4 has less accurate speedo also. Tuned forester was real beast at certain speeds, but I guess drivetrain loss and wind resistance were much greater at higher speeds.

Sounds good.

Which remap did you go for?

Actually not known. My local repair shop remapped ecu with chip-tuning software. Chip-tuning is Finnish company, but I think they also have maps bought somewhere?
