E86 Z4 coupe questions KJ56 TRV

Hi all,

I may be going to view a Z4 coupe over the weekend. I've noticed a couple of things which I'm puzzled by:-
- the rain sensor on the windscreen is almost entirely blacked out with what looks like marker pen
- the front bumper doesn't have any washer jets, which seems odd as I thought that all 3.0 cars had headlight washers
- seller says that it has Xenons but the dashboard has two adjustment wheels for the lights, one of which is for leveling

Any advice from those in the know about E86's gratefully received.

The reg is KJ56 TRV, does anyone know this vehicle?

Thanks in advance for any advice/info.

I understood that all Xenon lights must have washer jets fitted, hence you’ll see the covers on the front bumper. Maybe they have been retro fitted?
What does the MoT history look like?

My first Coupe had Xenons and my second didn't but both had headlamp washers. My guess is it may have been fitted with a replacement bumper that didn't come off a 3.0Si. If you look at the washer reservoir and see two pumps in it one is for the headlamp washers.

Anyway two thumbwheels does mean it wasn't built with Xenons.

Headlamp washers are only required with Xenons on cars registered after some date in 2009. After I got the leaking jet on my MC fixed I pulled Fuse 40 to stop them flying out/leaving streaks up the wings and it has passed 3 MOTs like that. :)

Good luck if you go to see it.

But must surely then mean the LCM has been changed? The Xenons have the self levelling set up.

[ref]Mr Tidy[/ref], cheers. That's was what I was wondering. Bit odd that the sensor (darkness for the headlights or rain sensor for the wipers?) on the windscreen is mostly blacked out

Apologies Mr T, I thought you said ‘doesn’t’.

No problem - I thought for a minute I'd typed it wrong!
