E86 Tale gate inside colour

[Benderloch]

Small surface rust patch on the inside of the tail gate. The colour of the paint on the inside surface is a Matt Grey. Anyone any idea what colour this is.

I don't know for sure what it is, but my Montego Blue Coupe looked to me like it had a very light dusting of the exterior colour on the tailgate edges with no lacquer and primer showing through!

So it may be a thin coat of your exterior colour - I'll be out looking at my current one tomorrow now. :lol:

When I viewed my first Z4 coupe I came away convinced the rear had been heavily repaired & the paint not finished properly.
Turned out after some investigation that Bmw thought it was ok not finishing off the unseen areas
Similar flaws can be found on the inner passenger wing of the twin turbo E89s .
Looks like a back street bodge job .

On mine it seems to be the exterior colour (Monaco Blue) but matt. It appears quite well painted, just no lacquer.

I’ll find something that matches reasonably well. Surprising how poorly finished these area are.
