E86 Standard Radio - Speaker Change - Worth it?

I have been working on my other car recently, and changed out the very old 5" speakers for some 6" one and a new radio and the sound is much improved (as much as you can in a TVR).

It got me thinking about maybe changing out the door speakers and rear speakers in the E86.

I only have the standard business stereo and don't really fancy trying to replace the head unit and amp up the car, but I could do a speaker change.

Does it make much of a difference?

If so, any recommendations on the door speaker to start with?

I added door speakers (not there unless you have the factory option) and speakers behind the seats in the cubby holes (again, not there unless the high end audio is optioned)
A huge improvement for little spend, but still lacking at high speeds as the general road/wind noise overwhelms everything.
There's a few guides around, and some info on my ownership thread. 👍

Thanks, I was thinking of the door speakers.

These are the mid-ones right? That are mounted on the door card, and you just take the feed off the tweeter?

From what I gather you take the door card off, split the feed and mount the speakers.

Have you got any recommendations for speakers?

I got a pair OEM door speakers. Yes, taken from the tweeter feed.
For behind the seats I installed a duplicate set of the front footwell speakers with the mounting plates and softboxes, fed from the head height rear speakers. The standard Business head unit can drive the additional door and rears fine. But I only listen at moderate volumes, if at all.
Overall a much better, fuller sound but still not fantastic. Worth the upgrade, though.
@RMB has recently install a mini amp which looks really interesting.

Thank! I'll go for the door upgrade first and consider the seat boxes, as I actually like having them. But the door upgrade looks pretty straight forward.
