E86 - going from MV2s to MV3s

I'm thinking of making the change to MV3s but don't want to veer too far away from stock. Does anyone know if MV3s were an option for the E86 from factory?

Any recommendations where to get locking wheel nut/bolts for MV3s? I'm assuming they'll be different to my MV2s

I like the look of Ferric Grey

Anyone got MV3s on their Z4 on this forum? For reference, I have an E86 in Montego Blue

[ref]Fred Smith[/ref] has MV3s on his black coupe.

I had ferric 103s on my Maldives Blue roadster, but I think your darker blue would suit silver wheels better.

MV3s were only an option on 3-series E90, although there are a lot around. Bolt pattern is exactly the same as MV2s, so you can swap the bolts over. The offsets are more aggressive than the MV2 which will improve your stance, but with a slight risk of rubbing at the front depending on your ride height.

I’ve just picked my first Z4 up (Black) and it has Ferric Grey MV3s on it. Really like the look of them and they sit well, relative to the arches.

Will upload a couple of pics later today if you want.

I think Ferric works quite well with black. I’d expect they look pretty good with mid and darker blues too.

I generally prefer grey/anthracite wheels over bright anodised/silver painted, though.

I’ll get some better shots from the side later when I’m out.

Please double check what I say in case I have erred.

MV2s are E85/E86 spec wheels with the following offsets. (F) IS47. ‎(R) IS50

MV3s are E91 spec wheels with the following offsets. (F) IS34. ‎ ‎‎(R) IS37

Effectively MV3s are equivalent to running MV2s with 13mm front and rear spacers. People's Spacer opinions vary, but I get the impression 15mm front, 20mm rear is the most you'd want to go, so MV3 are equalivalent to running a fair bit of spacer to the rear and close to maximum on the front. I have not noticed rubbing, but I have SE level suspension and may have experienced rubbing and not noticed.

I bought a set of MV2s because I like them, never been fitted yet, but the MV3s are growing on me a lot - I think I prefer the look of the wheels themselves and the offset they have compared to MV2s.

Will try to dig a picture out later if OP wants

I think they just about start to rub at full lock, but I’m not sure yet. If they do, it’s very minor but I think I can hear something slight.

The MV3s above, particularly in that colour, look unbelievable!

I've decided to stick with MV2s but in Ferric Grey.

Thanks all
