E86 Alpine KCA 420i glovebox install

I've ordered the Intravee 2 + Alpine KCA 420i adapter and I would like to locate the ipod/cable in the glovebox.
Has anyone done this/is there a DIY on how to do it.

The plan is to put the intravee in the boot (beside the amp), place the KCA 420i somewhere beside the ashtray (like in the DICE mediabridge install video) and then run the ipod cable to the glovebox.
Sounds doable right?
 
Not with the supplied cable lengths though ...

It looks ok I just don't want to take out the CDC.
I suppose it can be installed in the cubbyhole above where the light is but there is already very little storage space :(
 
I put the Intravee in the boot, put the Alpine under the passenger seat and ran the iPod lead along the centre tunnel. I thought about a spec dock, but they are stupid expensive for what they are.
 
The spec dock is actually quite lame for the setup I want. It's like inviting someone to break in if you always leave it in sight.

I know but the spec dock goes in the ashtray. Glovebox is just fine.
Stuart, were the cables enough for putting the KCA under the seat or you have ordered the longer ones?
 
There are different sizes but the ones I had were fine. I posted about it at the time, let me find the thread...

Edit - here you go. This was in my last car but it applied equally to the new one.

Have a specdock, they are good for iPhone connections, probably not so much for iPod as iPhone would leave the car with ou.
 
My iPod is dedicated to the car so I have everything hidden away in the boot. I fixed the Intravee and KCA (with the 1-wire iPod charging mod) on the bulkhead and then routed the ipod lead and serial lead round to the battery well - I just sit a laptop in the boot and plug in the serial lead to update the Intravee.

I put the iPod in a clear case and used double sided tape to fix the case to the top of the battery - the case opens to remove the iPod for updating indoors.

I'd do something similar if I was using an iPhone in the car and had to keep connecting/disconnecting it, but my iPod is a dedicated car device so the only time it gets unplugged is to add more 'tunez'
 
I might just remove the storage compartment and take out the CDC.
Is there a DIY around here?
I would love to place the ipod where the phone should go inside the cradle thing. It won't ever get used anyway. Hmmm.... I wonder if anyone has done this yet
