E86 3.0Si Sport Coupe Full Detail - 40+hrs!

Did you use a DA or orbital, and can you post some more details about the 3M kit.

Had a go on mine recently with my PC and some Poorboys 2.5 but it wouldn't touch it. Was looking at the Megs 105 & 205.

Any advise appreciated.

I used a Milwaukee rotary polisher, I kinda knew a DA wouldn't touch it and would need something a bit tougher.

This is the stuff, basically you use the green with the green pad, yellow with yellow and finish with blue and blue. It's good but the new green pads suck arse big time - I had to go back to work and get the 'bedded in' green pad - it was far too hard, and as you're supposed to use it dry it was a struggle with the new pad.

Great job. Thumbs up on Monaco blue!! I picked up a '56 E85 2.5SI in MB. Very pleased with first pass using a DA. Before wax I used the megs stage 2 crystal polish that gives a deep wet look before sealing it.

Wow! Thats amazing... Good effort... 40 hrs well spent i would say.

You can achieve some great results with a DA on our paints but I'm not going to lie - it takes some work!! You need a fair degree of patience. To do it properly requires probably two full days, just of polishing.

I bought Menzerna polishes because all the reviews I'd read over on DW suggested they were good for BMW's. Between their range of polishes and the Sonus pads there was more than enough capacity to deal with most typical paint defects using the DA.

Saw this on CYC just now! think my thread is lower down lol! nice job there! ive found that the Z paint is very tough indeed!
