E86 3.0si Coupe – Shimmy from the rear - RTAB?

I’ve noticed that the back of the car can give a little shimmy under heavy acceleration when coming off a roundabout for example.

I’ve seen it mentioned this could be the rear trailing arm bushes getting a bit soft with age and giving too much lateral movement?

Has anybody else had this. Car is just about to tick over 30K miles so is a pampered example but the bushes will be 17 years old now, so could well have degraded with age.

Thanks

Tyres were the first thing that came to my mind. Pressures ok?

How about rear tracking. Could it be a little roll steer.

Otherwise I think you’re right, any of the bushes could be perishing with age. Drop links, ARB bushes. Time to get it in the air and give the garage queen a tickle :)

I noticed a bit of a shimmy with mine with new RTAB bushes. Went away though when I fitted turner bush limiters. I was thinking it was rear subframe bushes but based on how it drives now I don’t think it was. I’ll do them at some point but limiters made a noticeable improvement for me
