E85 Z4 have reverse tilt mirror / power folding

After driving E46's the last 10yrs I'm lost as to why my Z4 doesn't have a tilting reverse mirror setup just like my E46's. I've tried moving the switch across like you would on other bmw's to make the mirror tilt function work when you put it in reverse. I know this is something minor but each time I'm parking N/S to save my alloys getting ruined. I need to stop first then manually adjust the mirror lower so I can see the kerb its really annoying. Is it just bmw felt there's no need or just couldn't be bothered to fit them to save weight maybe. It just seems really odd may some coding as been deleted?

Also how do I get the mirrors to lift and power fold when locking form my key etc? Ive had my roof coded to work up/down using key but couldn't see anything in ncs expert that worked the power fold

I wonder why it doesn't have tilt function seems really odd as it helps parking a lot and is a normal feature even on older bmw models

The mirrors should be able to be coded with software to fold with key just like I coded the key to close the roof I'm guessing mine is a 2003 so should have all the modules from factory as they wasn't left out until later models I read

Here is some codes bmw use, i have tried this and can get the mirrors to fold in on remote but cannot get them to fold out of remote. Think the Z4 doesn't have memory modules fitted to save on weight.

ASP_KOMFORT_EINKLAPP - Outside mirror closing with remote
Aussenspiegel - Outside mirror
AUT_SPIEGELVERSTELLUNG - Automatic mirror adjustment
BEIKLAPP_B_KOMFORTSCHL_GM - Comfort folding (mirrors)
BEIKLAPPEN_B_KOMFORTSCHL - Comfort folding (mirrors)
MEMORY_SP_ABKLAPPEN_GM - Outside mirror tilt down to memory position in reverse
MEMORY_SPIEGELABKLAPPEN - Outside mirror tilt down to memory position in reverse
SPIEGEL_BORDSTEIN_AUTOM - Outside mirror tilt down in reverse
SPIEGEL_KOMFORT_EINKLAPP - Outside mirror folding in with remote
SPIEGELMEMORY_GM - Outside mirror memory (General Module)

thanks man I will try this hopefully it works as long as they fold in off the key when locked that's ok I can just press the button to unfold when I get in.

I wonder if the later e89 z4 had reverse tilt mirror?

yeah seems odd they didn't want it for E85 its really frustrating keeping having to adjust my mirror as approaching a kerb to save my wheels from any accidents. doesn't take long to adjust mirror it just annoying as it should do it automatically like all my other bmw's before even older models

Weird how the Z4 dropped features with the later models. I was looking to add Cruise control. With the older models just add the stalk and connect it to the existing harness. With the newer models you need to add the wiring as well as the control stalk.
I'm guessing tilt/reverse side mirrors is not an option at all with the facelift models? I have NCS so if anyone's ever done it I'd like to know.
And the folding mirrors would have to have been optioned at the factory surely? There aren't little mirror motors sitting there waiting to be activated via coding, that would be bizarre?

I've tried coding mine on ncs expert but it never worked they have always folded when u push the button manually but never off the key. I was told it can be done by a z4 programmer form Telford depending on which I-bus conncetion it has if that's correct. I've managed to work the roof open/close from key by coding on ncs expert but never the mirrors was the first thing I tried when I had it

E85 is the older car - it does not have the tilt mirror - they did not go backwards on that model vs the E89. Some other BMWs had that feature. The E46 is the same design year and that does has mirror memory as an option. The tilt option is part of the mirror memory options i think - E85 has never had mirror memory option.
E89 - has auto tilt option configurable from OBC/mirror switch.

E85 & E89 have folding options configurable using coding according to Carly for BMW. I have tried the E89 and know it works. I did not try it on my E85.

Again, I can't see how this is possible if your car (E85/E86) did not come with the folding mirrors as a factory option. Surely it needs a separate motor to fold? Would love to be wrong about this, but I can't see it being as simple as coding.
I coded the 'comfort close' option for the keyfob as well, but now I have the RCH+ module fitted it's much better/easier

Of course you need the folding mechanism :D. I was referring to coding the automatic fold to a mirror that can already fold when the switch is pressed.

Cheers, I didn't want to get my hopes up there might be an easily activated feature I didn't have

E46 was made way before E85 as the E46 started in 1998 and e85 was in 2003 that said I've reads on here in the stickies section. The early 2003 E85 (which I have) actually had the modules already fitted to be able to fold the mirror in/out and other extras like heated seats without having to fit them for extras options. Whereas as later models the modules were left out and only put in when spec was ordered probably to save on unwanted parts and costs. So in theory if this is true it can be done. I'm yet to test the memory function of mirror to programme for different drivers along with seat memory but will try it later. I would have thought just like E46 if the seat memorises your position then you can set the mirrors to do the same as its only controlled by the GM5 module found behind the glove box. Just like on e46's that never had folding mirrors the GM5 module can be added to fold mirror if you have electric seats as the mirrors should be correct ribbon type. I'm new to Z4 but owned e46's many years so I guess its doable if you already have the module its just a matter of coding them correctly. I will check later to see if the module is behind glove box if its not you can get used one off ebay for £10. If there's only one type of Z4 mirror without a motor inside to tilt the mirror down it obviously isn't possible and the mirror housing will only fold in out like when you press the button on door.

Any update on this mate? Cheers!
