E85 Roll hoop covers question

So I'm in the process of spraying all the horrible silver plastic in the car and I've gotten the rear covers off the roll hoop trims (and only breaking one clip!).
But the other halves won't come off, not matter how much I try.
Do the deflector mounts screw into the trim pieces or are they screwed in deeper and need to be removed before I can take these halves off?

You need to remove the wind deflector screws and brackets.

Figured as much, thanks for the response! Do you know how to do that by any chance? I assume the screws are covered by the little bits of plastic but couldn't get them out at all!
