Had an E85 for about 8 months now, 2.2, i have seen the supercharger kits available, but has anyone managed to or know someone who has managed to turbo theirs at all??? I went from a 350bhp car to the Z, but it just isnt gripping me like my last car did, feel like it needs around 230-300bhp to really grip me, anyone got this much out of a 2.2?

Sell it and buy a 3.0 even the M54 produces (when new) 237hp.

Anything is boostable , but you have to weigh up the cost to gains. You could start opening up issues such as cooling capabilities, intercooler fitting ( or charge cooler) turbo siting as the engine leans that way , turbo oil lines, head gaskets, compression ratios .............. the list grows to the point of being financially cheaper to get a different car, even an M version.

Upgrading to the 3.0i will be far cheaper. In addition, the supercharging options are better for the M54 engine than the N52.

The Vortech in particular (to my eye) looks good value and receives its air feed in a far more logical position.

If you go on YouTube (Link below) there is a guy who completed one fairly recently. It’s a bit of a custom setup using loads of alternative vehicle OEM parts but he briefly describes what he used - below is his general guide - look through his vids for more info.

230bhp i believe, agree it’s a far better idea to sell the 2.2 and buy a 3litre if power is that important. It’s also going to be a lot more reliable than a retrofitted turbo conversion

Fast, reliable, cheap. Pick two

You could do a cheap turbo conversion, but it wont be reliable. Or spend thousands of pounds to try and get some reliability. But generally, if you want more power its better to sell what you have and buy a faster car. Cheapest would be a 3.0i, but even an e89 with a 2 litre turbo can get 280bhp with a remap, or absolute best option would be buy a 35i and remap that, get you up to 380bhp.
