Just a thought with all the trouble the micro switch can give /parcel shelf when opening the roof on the vert, do we really need it.
Never use mine , does it serve any useful purpose, ie giving the roof support when down for example,
I have thought of just taking out the parcel shelf to give a couple of inches more height in the boot,
The micro switch itself is easily bypassed so no prob with that,
Anyone got any thoughts

It's to stop you overloading the boot then trying to drop the roof, I'd leave it there not worth the hassle of removing it not really any benefit to taking it out and could be disastrous if you forget the level and drop the roof

Another thought.... You do know that you can flick the switch either side to get those couple of inches back?

This, can't see the point of removing and risking damage to the roof.

It's only 4 clips to remove, you can leave the sides in place so that the switch still works. I removed mine as it rattled to much with the subwoofer I was running.

No the shelf has a lug that runs in the channel where the switch is, if you take the shelf out you have to jam a bit of wood or something in the slot.
, done it before, when I removed the shelf changing the rear top mounts,
Just wondering if it supported the roof with the top down

Yes, I know, was responding to the one above. I've had the shelf out but not the roof down without it. I can only assume it just protects from damage then the roof is down. I don't think it's there for support and I assume the switch is make for contact so could just be shorted rather than inserting something in there.
