E85 - manual roof?

Hi all,

as I am pissed with the constant issues with the roof, and I came from Miata, so I am not a spoiled brat that needs a motor to open or close the roof, I saw on the parts catalogue that there is an option for the manual roof?


As you can see, you can have a handle (where is the motor for locks), so has anyone done it? Converted from motorised roof top to manual? Or should I be the first? I just need to find conversion parts.

I've not heard of anyone doing the change, and I don't know whether it's feasible. Good luck with it, if you decide to give it go!

I’ve only seen one uk car on here with a manual roof

Thanks, gents, well I will explore more, but I think it's an easy swap. I don't want to remove my motor, it's ok, I will just disconnect him, and I will remove the central motor and replace it with this handle.

Realoem shows both options, so it should be fairly easy to compare and see exactly what changes.
Sourcing the parts may be the trickiest part.

LLL Parts have them in stock for just over £50. I think you'll need quite a few other bits to make it work though.

Any update to this? I know the latches are different between the electric and manual too so it isnt a case of just swapping in the manual latch handle. The frame also has helper spring cylinders for the manual roof compared to the hydraulic cylinders in the electric so the roof frame is different as well.
