E85 identity crisis

So, my 2003 e85 nav model developed a water filled passenger (rhd) footwell swimming pool. It was so bad I had to remove the carpet to be able to fully dry it out.

In doing so, I found this sat nav module under the passenger carpet! It’s, apparently, the nav module from an X5 e53 :?

The cars are contemporaneous but I’ve not heard of this before…. Just wondering if anyone knows if this was common or just another “unique” feature of my car?

One for sale on fleebay described as Universal Tracker. So maybe fitted to several vehicles. Not that I would stake much on an ebay description.

Oh the burdens of a wide vocabulary in our native language.

Perhaps I should restrict myself to words of three syllables or fewer.

So please enlighten me; why would I highlight your superlative use of 'our native language' if I wished you to reduce it to 3 syllables or less?

Ah well, my use of the written word often attracts criticism for apparent pomposity and pedantry. My incorrect assumption was therefore that your comments, gentlemen, were sarcastic. I offer sincere apologies, and thanks for your rare appreciation of our language.

Though originally an engineering technician, I am now a technical author and do indeed appreciate the ability to use language in a better way.
Ironic really, as I have to adhere to the authoring principles of 'Simplified English'.

PS. No idea about your car though, sorry.
