E85 Clutch shudder & Engine Clatter

Hello just recently purchased a 03plate Z4 with 114k on clock, it had a MOT & service in October with no advisories showing and Inspection I & II done. However upon driving for a couple of days now i've noticed that sometimes there is a vibration/shuddering from the car in first on the biting point, not all the time, not sure if this is related to Clutch delay valve? The other issue is sometimes when turning the engine off it will make a winding down/clattering metal noise briefly, again not all the time. Are these potentially linked to a worn flywheel and/or clutch?

Engine seems smooth otherwise, even at idle.

To make matters worse the drivers side windscreen wiper failed on me tonight

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, you will need to provide pics of your Zed or people will post lots of little emoticons up, suggesting that you do.

A few teething problems on a 114000 miler may be expected.

Do you keep the clutch pressed to the floor, when you start and stop the engine? If not you should, there is a natural rattle through the drive train & It's not good to have rattles, they break things over time.

I'd have thought you would be coming up to the second inspection II by now as well.

Thanks for the reply,

Ill get a pic up soon. I dont normally engage the clutch upon start up or shutdown unless the cars left in gear which it often is as i live on a hill. The car has just had inspection I & II done back in October by prev owner according to the service book.

Sounds like the clutch is on its way out with 114k is understandable. Good idea to have the flywheel changed at the same time while they have the gearbox out.

But yes as buzyg says keep clutch engaged on start up and shut down and the engine won't rattle.

I have the exact same noise, wind down metalic rattle when switching off, I'll try switching off with the clutch floored now.

Speaking of clutch pedals, mine is very squeaky/noisy/creaky when pressing the clutch pedal, but more in a mechanical way rather than a friction way if that makes sense, sounds like it's coming from beneath the car, can be heard all around the car inside and outside, does something just simply need lubricating?
