E85 Clear third brake light

I'll take that off your hands please...

Edit: actually, I'm sorry, I have to back out as I have found out that they cost the same brand new from BMW - so will be buying direct from BMW

If you get stuck with it OP, I'd be willing to buy it for the same price as the Chinese copies (£25 posted) - but I appreciate that's half (well, just less than) of what you're asking so I won't be offended if you say no (or simply want to give it some time in case someone else pays asking price).

(I only want to compare it side by side to the Chinese copy I purchased to do my Custom Brake light - I don't need it. [https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=116841])

Wouldnt bet on that. My clear genuine one is starting to failing after only a 3/4years. Will get a cheap ebay one when this cracks.

Not always - majority of the time perhaps, but not really the case here with the brake lights it would seem

+1 Johnr32 - I know of other members who have had a Chinese one for a few years without any issues, cracking, leakage or water ingress

Just from experience of selling various parts for the last 40 years I would disagree...but this is a forum after all.
Thanks for your feedback

My clear light was £48.98 from Sopers on Ebay. It too is failing after less than a year, the top section is already looking ragged inside where the clear plastic meets the black plastic frame - and this is with upgraded springs too.

Do you mean LEDs failing? Or cracked plastics etc? For what it's worth, I'll have 2 boards taken out of the Chinese ones soon going (Due to my customised 3rd brake light project)

I purchased one from sopers 7 years ago and it’s still going strong!
I guess you can get the odd one that’s a bit iffy after a short ot period.

Thanks

I’ve had 3 BMW genuine clears, all failed within 18 months. Went back to red, no issues whatsoever. Reckon the way they have to manufacture the clear (diff materials) reduces their quality.
