E85 Central Locking Problem

I have a 3.0i E85. it will no longer lock or unlock using the remote, the boot release won't work of the remote either.

The car will unlock both doors using the key and start OK, the central locking and the boot release work OK when using the buttons in the car. As for the spare key, it won't lock / unlock using that either, but it may be the battery in it has run down as it's not been used in 9 months. I've done an hour run using it, but it didn't work when I tried it at the end of the journey.

Any ideas please
 
Sounds like its the battery in the car and you need to get a charger on it. If you're laying it up for extended periods of time then its good to invest in a trickle charger to keep it topped up.

I'll get the battery checked but the car is used every day and never gives any indication the battery is on I it's way out
 
Could be the GM5 module or keys in the battery more than the battery in the car.

Many thanks for that.

I tried the recoding keys procedure after reading this. And the central locking started to work again off key 1, I then recoded key 2 and that worked, but key 1 stopped working. I then did key 1 again and that was OK, but key 2 stopped working.

Am I missing something !
 
Just read sootydogs thread on a similar issue. I followed the advice on that thread and turned the ignition on then off after doing recoding keys, and they both now work.

Happy days. Many thanks for the help and advice.
 
My GM5 module has played up once around two years ago when it was really cold. I could not get in with either key. If the problems do ever come back I will be sending my module off for repair.
