E85 Bluetooth pairing problem?

No matter how many secs I press the face button in the rear fold down console before and after turning ignition to position 1 I can’t get “Bluetooth pairing” to come up on my screen and can’t pair my phone. Does the button fail? If so can I buy replacement and fit it easy?

Welcome to my world. Read this for tips http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=99347&hilit=bluetooth&start=15

Also.. here is the official procedure from the updated manual (doesn't work for me though). Suspect I have a ULF module problem.

Had the same issue. In the end I resorted to using INPA to activate pairing mode. Bit of a pain but worked far better than the hit and miss "proper" way!

diagnostic software, so I assume you won't have it yourself. There's a lot of members round happy to do coding though depending on your location

This is interesting - I never thought of INPA to do this! You may just have been the light at the end of my long dark tunnel. I don't suppose you could give some guidance of which menu it resides in?

The forum kind of frown on giving links to such things. But try searching "BMW USB - OBD K + Dcan Diagnostic Cable Switched UK INPA" on Ebay. The Bcables one is the one you need.

Off the top of my head, it's in communication modules, there should be a menu for bluetooth with options to activate, deactivate, enter pairing mode etc

Had a go with this last night but alas I can't find any such menu. There is a 'telephone' menu but it just says it can't find the ECU. If you could post a screenshot that would be :roundel:

Won't be able to manage this for a couple of weeks, so not sure if that helps!
