E85 Amplifier Question

Due to Hurricane Ian, water filled up the trunk of my car and fried the amplifier. I want to replace it but the prices are insane. $300-$400 is what I'm seeing. I see an E83 X3 Amp that looks identical to the one in my car for $40. Would it be okay to use that one or are they proprietary?

It would help to know which amp you have and which year of car. There were two versions of the 10-speaker setup with an amp in the boot:
P676 aka HiFi loudspeaker system (diagonal cooling fins on the amp)
P677 aka HiFi system Professional aka Top HiFi aka DSP (horizontal cooling fins)

They are not interchangeable. The Top HiFi has a 30v feed to the rear subs and doesn’t seem to be compatible with anything. That’s as much as I know.

I suspect the advice you will receive will be either replace like for like, or rip everything out and replace with aftermarket.
