I tried him recently for the same part but was selling the whole power steering system as a kit for £1000
I have just made my own shaft up by buying a second z4 intermediate shaft and removing the top yoke and fitting it on the bottom of my existing shaft , fits perfectly but have not road tested it yet ....hopefully in next few days

How have you done that? Was it simple enough job using nuts and bolts or do you need some sort of industrial equipment/tool to make it work? Do you have any pictures? Some sort of a DIY guide? :)

[ref]Southwestz4[/ref], unfortunately for us the lower u-joints are the ones that go bad - please let us all know how it goes though! Z4 and Z4M share everything except the yoke that connects to the steering rack, the splines are different.

This chap has done the conversion but I suspect he had the shaft converted in a machine shop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwek4T_J8hQ

Hi all ...ok so this is how I made my shaft..
Parts I bought are
1. Standard z4 intermediate shaft ( ebay £40)
2. 1540 universal joint kit ( Driveshaft parts Ltd £10)
2. 15mm hand reamer ( Amazon £15)

Ok so first I cut the lower splined yoke from my existing shaft on blue marks

Then I cut the correct sized splined yoke from the column end of the ebay shaft on blue marks20230518_085054.jpg
Then pressed out old needle bearings in vice.
Cleaned out stake burrs from bearing holes with reamer

Then fitted new uj with upper splined yoke from ebay shaft on bottom end of my existing shaft

Then I used a centre punch to pin in the needle bearings to stop them moving ...you can get a stake tool but a kit is over £400 and would need a hydraulic press as well.
Hope this heps others out ...saved me buying a Z4m shaft at over £300

Usel on here made me a shaft from a standard Z4 one and whacked an E46 UJ on it. I'd ping him a message if you're interested
