E85 2006 2 litre Diff question

Just got under the car to have a look at doing the Diff fluid change...and I can only see one Drain refill point...is this right? or have i missed something.

I have read that these only have the one fill plug (no drain). To drain, you need to suck the oil out through that fill plug with some sort of syphon/suction tool.

This task is still on my list, so I can't confirm 100% from first hand experience
 
The Allen bolts will be the fill/drain on BMW diffs/gearboxes.

The regular hex bolts in the photo will be to hold on the rear differential cover, so definitely don't go undoing those!
 
Nope, they'll hold on the rear cover.

I thought the E46 and e85 diffs were the same, apart from the back casing/cover

no pal it doesnt seem to have a drain plug…
 
Yep, looks like a suction job then sadly

You can get little hand pumps too, or 12v powered ones

I had one of these - it wasn't great, but it will do the job (a few times, at least!)
