E85 2.5i sport vs 2.5si sport

Hello

First time on these forums so I'm looking for a little guidance.

I've been looking at E85s 2006+ and found a nice example with around 30k on the clock for £8000, the dealer is also willing to replace the roof motor which I understand is a common fault.

It's a 2.5i sport.

My question is, is it worth holding out for a 2.5si sport instead? They both seem to devalue around the same amount, and can pick up a 2.5si for around the same price but ~45k miles instead of ~30k.

Yes if you like power, it's usefully quicker.

I almost made the mistake of getting a face-lift 2.5I it's considerably slower than the prefacelift 2.5I get the si

I went for an 07 2.5i a couple of years ago as I didn't really know much about the difference between that and the 2.5si. Whilst the 2.5i is great fun and still makes a great noise I do wish I'd gone for the si for the extra power and pull in the higher gears.

2.5si is pretty close to 3.0si on the road. The biggest drawback is actually the lower spec that they tend to have compared to the 3.0si, IMHO. Even fuel economy is very close.

Facelift 2.5i, as others have said, will still get you a sweet inline 6, but with considerably less power.

I am new to this z4 forum. Waiting to collect our z4 2.5se 06 on monday fingers crossed. Just wondering what exactly is the difference mechanically giving the power restriction.

2.5 SE is 0-60 in 7 secs and 149 mph max 192 bhp
3.0 SE is 0-60 in 6 secs and limited to 155 mph 231 bhp
2.5 i is 0-60 in 7.7 secs and 146 mph max 177 bhp
2.5 Si is 0-60 in 6.5 secs and 149 mph max 218 bhp
3.0 Si is 0-60 in 5.7 secs and limited to 155 max 265 bhp

Probably to provide an even spread of performance and economy in the facelifted range, from 2.0i through 3.0si. All facelift 6cyls are N52; pre-facelift, M54.
