Always been a bit of a sucker for the big barge E60 5s , A6s & E class
This 550i is a rare thing for obvious reasons :( but what a machine if you could stomach the fuel bill
Epic noise & torque without the potential for wallet destruction the V10 M5 comes with

I had an E60 M sport breifly until we got a dog and I still look at them now and admire the shape.
I could be so tempted to buy a tidy 2005/2006 model for peanuts and stick it away if I had the space

Ditto, I bought a new one back 2005, a 530d Msport and really loved it. I kept it for 2 years until my wife drove it into the back of a lorry so it was time to let it go. I've been tempted more than once to get back into one with a V8 but BMW V's make me nervous!

This looks a bit of a beast

That is right up my street ! All black looks awesome. I'd like it even more if it was a Touring. Always had a hankering for a nice M5 Touring.

Not think for a minute that a 550i will be any cheaper than an M5 to repair ..

I liked the M5 V10 I had, but it had a prodigious thirst...

But you must have a V10 at least once in your life, not many can say they have..

I bottled buying a V10 M5 touring, not due of reliability concerns, but because of that dreadful gearbox and poor mpg. Instead "settled" for 1 of 7 Manual LCI M Sport Touring's in 2011/12.

Fantastic family car, I fitted an Eisenmann sport rear silencer to liven things up. Really was a have your cake and eat it car.

It replaced a E61 530d, which was the worst car I ever owned. The 550i was only 4 or 5mpg worse in any scenario so why compromise? I averaged 26mpg. I never had any issues with the car in about 15k miles.

On reflection, it may have suited the auto box better, but manual was a lot of fun and very rare. Gearing was too tall, but a fairly nice gearbox to use, for BMW.

I wasn't planning on selling it, but a chap on Pistonheads made what was a good offer at the time, but looking at the price of that white saloon, prices must be on the up. I'd of thought that would be a £7k car by now with that mileage.

Here's a few pics...
