Dying battery and electrical issues

Can a dying battery cause electrical irregularities?

Last time I drove the Z4 it was struggling to start. Just popped to the shops in it and starting was very, very hard. On the way back the fans were going crazy and the temperature gauge was all over the place (never over heating though).

I tested the battery 11.9V :( , tested with the engine running and it's getting 14.7V, so the alternator is good.

Low voltage plays havoc with the electrics & if you don't keep the car on a conditioner for the down periods this weather will soon kill a tired battery off
Winter on the way for £70/£80 id stick a new battery in but if not using daily & at all possible look for a trickle charger for it

As above, prevention is better than cure. So if it's used only once or twice a week (or less) then a maintainer is a must.
If it's a daily then just replace and enjoy :)
I got a Varta E44 for about £65 (better spec than OE) and have been happy with it.

Cheers guys. I think it's time for a new battery. I would love to keep it on a conditioner, sadly I can't get power to it. :(

Nice! Done. £80, pick up Wednesday. I'll stick the old one on to my CTEK and see what it does.
