Thing is about number plates that refer to the vehicle they are on, is that you cannot put them on another car - so if you decide to sell it you have to sell it with the car. A4 ZED, AZ4 BMW etc, would be great, but on a Merc or Audi would not really work!

That's why i wouldn't buy a car specific plate unless i knew it was staying on the car at sale

Yep - seemed like such a good idea of a buddy of mine with iirc 'V8 JAG', until he traded for a 5 series
