DTC...and do you drive with yours switched off?

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) allows more wheel slip and thus a more dynamic driving style with higher wheel traction and DSC controlling stability. A small amount of spin on the drive wheels improves traction when pulling off from a standstill in snow or on loose terrain.

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) is a sub-function of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system that can be turned on and off. DTC has two major roles: to regulate traction and to enable sports-style driving while providing active stability control.
When the drive wheels start losing traction the DSC automatically begins stabilisation measures. The Dynamic Stability Control system curbs the engine output and stops slip on the wheels. In exceptional situations, however, a small amount of wheel slip can be an advantage.

When driving in deep snow, slush or on loose terrain a small amount of wheel spin improves traction. For these occasions, as well as those when the drivers want a sportier driving style, the DTC can be activated by pressing a button and this allows more slip and reduces the DSC’s curbing of the engine. The result: better traction and more thrust.

The DTC also makes driving on snow and ice-free roads more dynamic. When activated, the DTC allows sporty drivers more room to manoeuvre around curves than the Dynamic Stability Control and even permits controlled drifts. The driver retains complete control over the vehicle in every situation and the Dynamic Stability Control’s stabilising measures remain active even when the DTC is activated.

Or in lamens terms, turning DSC/DTC off = TIMYOYO (thats it motherfuck3r your on your own)

Haven't heard that one before!

I wondered what these settings actually meant. I often press "DSC" and get "DTC" on the dash in amber, though the numpty i am thought this stood for "Disabled Traction Control".

I'm yet to get the back end out properly with DTC on though. Seems to be too intrusive on a 2.2. I blame lack of power & Eagle F1's. :P

Its doubt its a lack of power or the F1s you need to press and hold the button down to get the back out.

Mine slides more now in DTC mode now i have a LSD. But before it would start to go then all power would be cut

ive never pressed the button haha looks like im gonna have a play around with the 2 other settings over the weekend.

just to be sure:

no press = day to day driving all driver aids left on
1 quick press = traction control off and everything else left on (how does this effect arse end out action, does it cut power when u start kicking out?)
loooonngggg press = everything off, experienced racers only lol?

sorry for the noob questions

also if you have cheap rubbish tyres sometimes good to have it half off...otherwise they tyres dont grip the road..and ruins the drive

All correct, except one press (DTC) doesn't turn the traction control off, it changes the limits at which the system kicks in - hence being called 'dynamic'... I assume the limits become variable as opposed to fixed when DTC is not enabled and all the aids are on.

I've yet to grow sufficiently sized testicles to turn the DSC off in mine when driving enthusiastically... I can't help feeling I need some driver training before I do that. Only because I can't find a big enough space to practice in though
