DSC replacement advice

I am a new and otherwise very happy owner of a 2007 Z4 coupe 3.0si which has clocked up just less than 50,000 miles. Had the car three months when I used air-con for first time(!) and the DSC warning light came on. BMW service check was due anyway and they now tell me I need a new unit, cost just under £2000 for the part and three hours labour. Is there a better value way of doing this or do I get BMW to do it?
very grateful for advice.

I believe BBM reman ( I believe that's they're name) are able to repair DSC units, depending on the fault - there was a long thread on the forum a little while back re DSC failures (And getting the units repaired) give the search facility a go, its allin here somewhere
