DSC, DTC and ABS

Grassroots Motorsports Magazine had a great article about DSC, DTC and ABS in their April 2006 issue and talks about how they work and how they help and hinder you in everyday driving.
They have now placed the article online.

Enjoy...

This is a very good mag for the enthusiast and sometimes racer..

Excellent read - that echoed exactly what I have experienced with the various traction control systems across several cars I have used at the track that have had them. In my case 2 Audi S4's and the Z4. My Honda S2k had nothing beyond ABS.

Simple summary (esp for Phil since it was long) - leave everything alone and on for daily street driving. You are not in control of your driving situation and need every bit of help you can get to avoid sheet metal wrinkles. If you really think you are in control of the external variables out on the streets then you definitely do need these systems running because you don't have a clue what you are doing.

Out on a track you have a highly controlled driving environment and can afford to shut off DSC and DTC. Highly recommended that you do so you can actually learn how to handle your car without the electronannies. Most of our cars these days are almost totally dependent on the ABS system sensors to achieve front to rear brake balance. Disabling this system will not do you any good at all unless you have access to a racing mechanic team/engineers who can build you a properly balanced brake system as a replacement.

Thanks for the link
