As per the title. Just got back from picking up my Ikarus 2801 at the Stowa building in Engelsbrand Germany. Had a rather nice drive to Stowa. I stayed off the autobahn and made a journey on the deserted back roads through a lot of small & pretty German villages. Went through a couple of French ones as well (by accident) The back roads took me right along the German French border. That is until the road ended at the Rhein river. Fortunately there was a small auto ferry. Even had the hood off.
But as this is Germany. It of course started to rain. Hood back up
Pictures don't do justice to the Ikarus dial. I have seen very few pictures that convey how pretty the Rhodium coating is. Not sure why it's so difficult to photograph. The 2801 handwound movement is wonderful to look at. It's fully decorated and has a golden inlaid Stowa on the back plate. I could stare at it for hours.
Apologies for lack of road trip Zed pic's. But I had an appointment to collect my watch. The rain didn't help either. It was such a nice little traveled route. I do believe I will try it again when the weather has sorted it self out.
