Drivers window not fitting - wind noise - not re-set

Hello fello Z4'ers.
I've tried Window re-set, however believe I have a different challenge.
The drivers window closes fully to the roof, however leaves a gap at the rear seal. The passenger side covers the window rear seal with about 2 or 3 mm seal showing from the outside, but drivers shows 12-15 mm where I think the window should be.

Any thoughts?

A photo of the two sides to compare might help? Could be the glass has slipped in the carrier somehow...depending on which way the movement seems to be, have you tried winding it halfway down and seeing if you can 're-seat' it by a bit of wiggling or downward pressure?

There is loads of play in the position that your window sits in. I'd guess you're referring to sort of the top right corner of the drivers window?

You'd know how much play there was if you've ever fitted a window regulator. Has it always been like this?

You can adjust it - easier with two hands but you need to get the door panel off. If It's the drivers side you'll see a white plastic thing on the left that fixes.to the window. Slacken off and move window.

Sorry to be a bit vague but I'm a work. Although obviously not working.......

I fitted a new window regulator recently and had the wind noise afterwards. Very annoying.

If resetting the window doesnt work, as above you will have to take the door card of and fiddle around until the glass is in the right place.

Once the door card is of you will need to peel the foam backing/sheet from the door to see the mechanicals.

Behind this you will see the glass is held at its bottom corners, one end by a metal/plastic bracket with a screw running through it. At the other end it is just located in a plastic runner.

The bracket has a sort of thickness adjuster (Two seperate plates that can be moved up and down to adjust its thickness like a wedge) When this brackets screw is slackened you can move the glass backwards and forwards a touch and also how tight it is to the seal by adjusting the two wedges.

All very trial and error getting it right, so be prepared to drive up and down the motorway and keep adjusting it until the noise has gone. Much easier with two people. :D

Thanks for the advice all, I'll try a half window down wiggle first, then entertain a door panel off, although whenever i take things apart, they always rattle when I put them back together.

At the moment, I'm still in the new car cloud, so ignore any negatives when driving (750 motorway miles so far with wind noise), although my mind set may change when it gets colder :!:

Need to wait 'till it stops raining (Cardiff) before venturing outside with window stuff.

Hi Jon welcome from another S Wales Zedder
Had the same problem after a badly fitted regulator. Took it to Autotech in Ponthir, near Caerleon. They are BMW indie recommended on the forum. They did a great job and fixed the whole shannigans
