Drivers side window regulator

Ok, so, fixed EVERYTHING so far apart from drivers sode window. Iv removed regulator as the wires are totally shot :-(
So ive brought a repair kit, looked pretty straight forward BUT how do you get the main wheel (centre of mech) out of the black housing without breaking it??? Hmmm...well, it shattered into several pieces as it was impossible to take off but now i cannot locate this piece anywhere. Even BMW dont sell :-( apart from the obvious ( buying all new main dealer bits as a complete unit) does anyone know where i can find one or how im going to go about sorting it?

Thanks in advance. Lou

I just had the same thing. You have to drill the 5 rivets that house the wheel then use nuts and bolts to get it back together. I bought the cable kit too but one of the parts didn't fit on to the motor housing.

I sort of got it working but I just had a feeling that the repair wasn't going to hold so I pulled it out and opted to buy the whole regulator unit. I'm hoping to get the money back on the cable kit as one if the parts didn't fit.

In hindsight I would have not bothered with the cable repair kit. It's too long winded and BMW obviously don't approve this as a repair as they will only sell the whole regulator.

I got the regulator from euro parts. BMW wanted £163 but I got it for £145.00 and after spending many hours of toil trying to get the old one working I just popped in the new unit and had the job done in less than an hour. The new unit was all nice and tight too whereas the repaired one was a bit loose and shoddy.

Get the whole unit and save yourself the arse ache!
