Driver's Side Door Speakers Not Working

Hello all. I've got a 2005 2.5i, non-Carver, 10 speaker stereo with the factory head unit w/navigation. My driver's side tweeter and mid-range speakers in the door do not work. Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong?

Some background. I replaced the amp in the trunk about a year ago because the amp didn't work when I bought the car 2 years ago. When I replaced the amp, I started to replace the speakers starting with the driver's side door speakers. I connected both the tweeter and the mid range in the door, and they worked and sounded great. When I went to button the door back up, I rolled the window down and all hell broke loose because the mid range speaker, that Crutchfield said fit, was deeper than the original mid range and the window came down on the rear of the speaker. Life got in the way, and now 6 months later I finally bought a mid range that fits, but now there is no sound in either the mid range or the tweeter in the door. Everything else in the door, power window, rear view mirror, etc. works. There's no obvious signs of wire damage. All other speakers work. Fuses are good.

Any ideas why these 2 speakers don't work? Am I overlooking something obvious? Thanks in advance for your help.

Could you have short circuited something and damaged the amp when you damaged the speaker?

Might be worth taking to an audio specialist.

I had the DSP carver 10 speaker system in mine.

Upgrading the head unit (and amp) made a massive improvement to sound quality. Pioneer head units are known to be much better than OEM.

So I've never bothered touching the speakers. Speaker technology hasn't changed much at all in the past 50 years. So speakers tend to be the last thing worth upgrading especially on higher end systems.

You may have been better off getting stock speakers as replacements and just upgrading the head unit

That helps!

OP, it's a bit more work, but could you try swapping the speakers from the other door?
It'll rule out a speaker fault at least.

Thanks for the responses. I started upgrading the speakers because the OEM mid range in the door was blown out. I'm trying to avoid upgrading the head until for now, but will if I have to.

Can speaker wires short circuit and damage the amp? That's what I was afraid of.

Actually let me clarify. I tried the mid range speaker that was supposed to go into the passenger side door, which I know won't fit, but was checking it first to test it, which didn't work. I don't think a brand new speaker would not work, but possible. I did not test a new tweeter either because I didn't think the window caused any damage since it's up in the corner of the door, not where the window is. Are the tweeter and mid somehow connected in series, where one has to work for the other one to work?

Or he could keep on using speakers too big to fit and never wind his windows down ever again.
