Drivers side airbag

Hello all,
I did search and I cant see anything online for this. I replaced my drivers side window cable and to test the motor I connected the battery with the airbag disconnected (I realise now it was a bad move). Anyway, sorted everything out, however, I have the airbag light on. I know I need to reset the code, so i tried a friends odb2 reader to clear it and it didn't move. I've been meaning to buy a good reader for a while so I thought I would invest and got an Autel MD808 Pro, but again it won't clear. My question is, is this mostlikly the airbag that needs replacing or is there anything else it could be? The light was not on before and I dont know if there is anyway to test to see if it is the airbag or a sensor etc. Also can they be damaged this easy? Also I have checked and it is plugged in, I just don't want to buy another and be in the same situation. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
 
Have you checked the plug and socket at the base of the A pillar that the door loom plugs into the car loom. These can get corroded if water gets in and you may well have disturbed it? Pop it apart, contact cleaner ( unless it is too bad :o ) and you should be OK. I know you said you have checked it was plugged in but I assume that is inside the door? HTH
 
Thanks for the reply Jl-c. I have been working on this and no luck :headbang: . So I cleaned the connects under the A pillar as I didn't think of this before so thanks, but this didn't help. I though sod it and got a replacement airbag off flebay, again no luck. I saw a video online to test an airbag as the should have around 2-3 Ohm resistance. I disconnected the door connecter and tested continuity to that and the airbag connector. When I knew I had the correct wires in the connector, I then connected the air bag and tested the resistance. I read 2.1, disconnect the new one and tested the old and this was the same 2.1/2.2. This seems to be in the ball park for a working airbag so I think this is something else. This also means everything is good from the door side of things, so not sure where to look next.

I also removed the fuse regarding airbag (Fuse 28) and looked at this and that was fine too.

Any advice will be good advise. I am using an Autel md808 pro to clear the code. Is this capable, has anyone else used this on a z4. It states it dose do it, just wondering if it is nothing on the car and its just not clearing the error.

I have a driver side airbag you can have if you think that’s the problem? Where are you based? Not sure about posting an airbag that’s all.

Thanks synthedup but I think the door is good.

OK, so after my misses looked at the OBD she pointed out that this code is the seat airbag (93AC).. god knows how this has been affected as no work was done under their. As it said, driver side airbag and i disconnected the door, I assumed... my mistake.. I made sure the connector was plugged in under the seat and tried to clear it again with no success. I disconnected the cable and ran the car to see what I got and it found 3 errors, the belt tensioner etc.. I plugged back in and cleared and again I am just left with the airbag error, so it can clear the codes. I am going to look into how it is wired and if the seat airbag can be replaced etc. Im not sure at the moment where it is located as only just tested this.

I bought a Creator C310 Code Scanner and it resets the airbag light. It's cheap too!
 
Thanks all. Got this sorted now.
Just to let others know, it turned out to be a faulty air bag connector on the drivers side door.
I tested this with an air bag test resistor and that cleared it. Turns out the connecter was not enabling the air bag pins to become live. Luckily my local garage had a spare connector as you can't just buy one without the full door loom.
