Drain plugs

Sorry guys I know this has been done to death but can somebody just put my mind at rest ?

When I had the car up in the air and the wheels off last week i cleaned out the infamous drain plugs. However I could not get anything out. There was no water or debris at all. When I poked the wire thingy up the hole I only got it to go up about 350mm is that about right? Or is it totally blocked up further along?

It's just playing on my mind

35cm is about as far as it will go - you will then hit the bottom of the motor housing. So your drain holes will be clear

I guess I should add that sometimes the drain in the actual roof motor housing is blocked even though the drain holes beneath are clear. But you would probably here water sloshing around if that were the case, its very rear - usually if the drain holes are clear you're ok

No I've not heard any water sloshing around so I should be ok ....

The last owner (4 years) had her garaged and I have a half cover so there should be no issue ... Cheers.

I tried to clean mine out a couple of weeks ago Ray and encountered the same issues as you, only went up so far with no debris coming out.

Again though, the last owner had it garaged and it's garaged all the time with me so hopefully both drains are ok, like you, I've never heard water sloshing about. My roof works very well so fingers crossed, all is well and hopefully yours is also despite the fact it's playing on our minds.

All you have to do to check if they are clear like you think is pour a little water in the top and see if it comes out the bottom.
If it doesn't then you know they are blocked :thumbsdown:

It's always difficult when you buy a second hand car you never know for sure how a car has been looked after.. The only "for sure" history is what you have done yourself

Down the side of the hood where the "C" pillar would be ?

Anywhere round the back really & it gets to the drains-just make sure you pour very slowly otherwise it just overflows and pours down the outside of the rear wings meaning you can't tell if the drains are flowing!
